HCCO Statement of Ethics: All HCCO participants will conduct themselves in compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local laws. HCCO is committed to establishing an atmosphere of trust and professionalism among its members, in its relationship with industry and government, and with healthcare organizations and their patients. HCCO participants will not betray that trust or professionalism by engaging in illegal activity, by knowingly engaging in statements or the release of information which is false or misleading, or by seeking some commercial or other advantage at the expense of that trust and professionalism.

SPECIAL NOTICE: The HIPAA Conformance Certification Organization (HCCO) is an independent, not-for-profit conformance standards, criteria, and certification organization. We are developing the conformance criteria for best practice compliance with HIPAA. Our goal is to develop and deliver to industry, meaningful and commonly acceptable standards to support consumer evaluation of products, services, processes, and methodologies as meeting the HCCO definitions of, and requirements for HIPAA and other regulatory compliance. As the leader in the development of conformance standards for our industry, the HCCO seal of approval will help industry communicate where and when their products conform to HCCO accepted standards and criteria, and achieve acceptance in the market.

As we develop, review, and approve acceptable conformance standards and criteria, it is important to recognize that conflicting statements may occur. Therefore, all claims of HCCO conformance, approval, or certification in any form requires the authorization of the Chairs Committee of the HCCO Executive Board in advance. The only Official Index of HCCO conforming, HCCO approved, HCCO certified, or any other term using HCCO's name or logo for products, services, processes, and or methodologies, as well as HCCO Authorized Evaluators, Testers, Approvers, and or Certifiers is available at www.hcco.us
